Hank Aaron To Join Medallion's Board

New York, N.Y., October 4, 2004 -- Medallion Financial Corporation (NASQAQ: TAXI) announced today that Henry “Hank” Aaron would join its Board of Directors.

NEW YORK, N.Y., October 4, 2004 -- announced today that Henry "Hank" Aaron would join its Board of Directors. Andrew Murstein, President of Medallion stated, "It is both a great pleasure and privilege that Hank Aaron is joining our Board. We know he will make significant contributions, not only through his respected standing in the minority business community where we are one of the largest SBA lenders to women and minority owned companies, and through his huge success in owning and operating business franchises, but also by virtue of his world renowned reputation for class, humility, and success. Mr. Aaron is currently Senior Vice President of Atlanta National League Baseball Club, Inc. He also serves as Vice President of Business Development for the CNN Airport Network, and is currently President of Hank Aaron BMW.
Prior to joining the Turner organization, Mr. Aaron enjoyed a 23-year major league career during which he rewrote baseball's record book. He holds more major league batting records than any other player in the history of the game, including most home runs, lifetime (755) and most runs batted in, lifetime (2,297). Mr. Aaron became the first player to compile both 3,000 career hits and more than 500 homers. He is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.
Mr. Aaron is a long-time Church's and Popeye's restaurant franchisee and also operates a Krispy Kreme franchise in the Atlanta area. He sits on the board of Retail Ventures, Atlanta Technical Institute, the Atlanta Falcons, and Atlanta Braves. He is a member of the Board of Governors for Boys and Girls Clubs of America. With his wife Billye, he is the founder of the Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation. Mr. Aaron has received numerous civic awards, including the Presidential Citizens Medal awarded by President William Jefferson Clinton, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian award, awarded by President George W. Bush.
